Day 1: A Hold-Up In The Airport (part 1)

Man, I woke up this morning feeling all the pressure of city life that I just wanted to evaporate! I immediately invited two of my best pals for a quick escape to my favorite destination where I can simply lay back and watch the sunset. That’s San Jose, Costa Rica, if you have to ask.

After packing our personal effects, we headed straight to the airport for our 11 a.m. first class flight via Continental Airlines. The beautiful attendant voluntarily told me that we will be stopping over Houston for a short while and to expect landing in San Jose at 8:45 pm local time. I bet she noticed how excited I was to hit the sandy coasts of Costa Rica!

Three hours was all it took to arrive in Houston. We promptly checked in our passports to continue flying to San Jose. Everything seemed to be going smoothly when, lo and behold, Martin, one of my pals, was pulled aside by one of the checkers! We trailed after him, hurdling through a maze-like path as he was herded by a security guard to an unknown room. I tried to see where the guard was taking him but I was stopped cold before I could make another step.

My other friend and I were left with no other choice but to board our plane to San Jose. We just prayed to the highest heavens that Martin will get to the plane in time but luck proved to be nowhere in sight when the doors of the plane shut, leaving Martin behind. Oh my!
