Costa Rica Booze

Sometimes, nothing soothes my tired soul better than lying under the canopy of stars, surrounded by my closest buds and a glass of my favorite booze, partying like no tomorrow. And when you’re in Costa Rica, you better have the good booze, baby, because it’s downright essential. Alcohol is an integral part of making your party lively and fun. It smooths the rough spots, it makes conditions ripe for a wonderful time. More so when keen on tasting the goodies Costa Rica has to offer.

But before you and your friends make that bar run, let Bobby Rica help you make the wiser choice. There’s nothing more awful than having weird choices that you might regret later.

First on my list is the widely-accepted national beer of Costa Rica, the Imperial. American beers are nonexistent in Costa Rica so the Imperial is the next best thing to your Budweiser. The other popular drink is the pilsen. Both drinks give the desired taste for a cheap price- a fantastic combination for the booze-lovers! Another beer that has people craving for is the Bavaria Negro.

If you’re in for a different treat, I’d say you try the ca ciqui, a local guaro. I especially don’t recommend you drinking this without a proper chaser or you’d be sleeping before your second shot. A bottle costs a measly $6. Even cheaper than beer! (Jack Daniel’s costs $28 here, for your comparison) You would not want to mix the ca ciqui with the regular stuff. Oh no. You
don’t pacify the strong taste of liquor like orange juice and Coke sode. Ca ciqui’s not like vodka. If you come near any of the local bars in San Jose, just tell the bartender to give you ca ciqui o ginger ale. That’s what the locals pair it and incidentally, the best chaser in town.

So, go ahead. Reward yourself with any of these drinks. But as always, eat oily and hearty before drinking. And do yourself a favor. Get a designated driver who’d transport your sorry drunk ass back to the hotel.
