Here’s a little Halloween-flavored travel post. If you’re looking to meet up with ghosts, I dare you and your friends to camp out in Playa Grande in Montezuma Beach. A few friends of mine had a subtle yet still blood-chilling encounters in the beach at night.

It was two in the morning and everyone was three sheets to the wind. Two of my friends, Drew and Ace were tending a nice huge bonfire for the evening. You know those big raging bonfires? Anyway, Drew was trying to make s’mores when someone ambled on the other side of the bonfire where her girlfriend was dozing off. He thought it was one of his friends jerking around again. Now, he told me at that time that he was drunk but still had some of his senses with him. But because of the smoke the fire was generating, Drew can only see the black outline. Then Drew was surprised that the guy on the other side was throwing sand into the bonfire. Ace stood up and tried to stop the guy from throwing more sand. When he was on the other side, the guy was gone. And Drew swore that he never saw the guy run out or even try to evade Ace. He just up and disappeared.

At first, Ace thought it was some native trying to mess them up. But the scary part came in the morning. When they woke up, the dry sand around them was completely smooth and undisturbed. Like they haven’t been partying all night and making a mess.

They later asked one of the resort owners nearby. The woman only sighed and told them the place had its share of ghosts. Montezuma Beach used to be a sacred burial ground.

So soon after, Drew and Ace never lingered during the evenings when they visited the amazing beach.
