Useless But Interesting Facts About Costa Rica

There is not much point in talking about the quirks and peculiarities of exotic Costa Rica, but then again, it doesn’t hurt to talk about them. Here are some of the more interesting facts that would give you a broader background of the country.

* Costa Ricans utilize a strange naming custom. A woman who recently got married retains her maiden name and never incorporates the last name of their husband. In case the woman decides to add the surname of the guy, she affixes the name ‘de’ before the added name of their husband. For instance, if the name of the woman is Maria Acosta and her husband’s surname is Guzman, then she’d have Maria Acosta de Guzman as her full name. Whew!

* Fast food companies such as Burger King, McDonald’s, and KFC offer home deliver services, making the lazy and fat, well, lazier and fatter. Also, McDonald’s tastes a lot different compared than the usual and KFC is deemed better than most fast food stores.

* If you spot nervous and excitable local babies and kids, it’s probably the coffee mixed in with the milk that they regularly drink.

* It’s really all too easy to catch lung cancer in this part of the world, as a pack of cigarettes is sold at less that $2.

* Let’s get morbid for a moment, shall we? Assuming that you die in Costa Rica for some reason (getting ran over by a pack of well-hung ticos, for instance), your body will be buried at the same day you died. Now that’s hastening your path to heaven!
