View of Jaco…from a jungle-hike view

By BobbyRica | July 30, 2009

End of the road…a waterfall!Right outside of the condos, here at Club del Cielo, in Jaco, is a strip of paved road.   Head south (left) on this road to the end…its about a mile.  At the end you will see a small market on the left, and a 100m road to the right…straight to the beach.  Take a left here and walk up to the main road.  Cross the main road and start walking up the unmarked dirt/gravel road in front of you.  Pass between the old shed on your left, and a run down home on your right…and head straight up the road.

This is one of those best-kep-secrets you will find as you travel and get to know the locals.  This road will take you up, up, and away, through the jungle, to the very top of a mountain.  About 20 minutes into the hike you will start to have views like you only see in books.  There is even an unfinished restaurant up here.  Somebody had big dreams to build a restaurant with a view, only to give up after building the three story decks.

On the way up, you can find monkeys, tucans, poisonous frogs, snakes, even an occasional tree sloth or wild peacock.  Head down a road to the left, and at the end you can find yourself sitting at the base of a small waterfall.  See the pic above, thats me, Bobby Rica, with a couple friends, RhinoBlanco and Warren.
