“I must say, Olga, those are a nice pair of naturally large breasts!”

“Why thank you, Bobby!” remarked the beautiful blonde Russian girl, doing her best to feign flattery. The moonlight shone over her wet curvaceous body as she immediately changed from her one-piece bathing suit to another skin-tight body glove. We have just swam to the shore of Caño Island. It must be around seven in the evening, and I’m sweating bricks. “But your flattery won’t get you nowhere. We still need to go to the burial site.”

Damn.

“I say we head over to the lighthouse first. I think we can cover more ground from there. The lighthouse appears to be still operating.” I pointed at the twenty meter structure that was throwing pillars of revolving light all over the island. I was glad it was a full moon tonight. We didn’t need to wear those abominable-looking night vision goggles that Katnissa was forcing on me.

I plopped down the waterproof bag I was hauling around since we jumped from the sisters’ yacht. I unzipped the bag and my jaw dropped. Inside were enough artillery to stage a coup-d’etat!

“I know we’re fighting zombies, but isn’t this overkill?”, I protested as I grabbed a Bowie knife and a holstered semi-automatic revolver. But before I can see say more. Olga shoved her hand in my mouth and motioned me to look behind us.

Five meters away in a dense cluster of shrubbery, four dark figures stood up. They were ambling towards us. They moved like robots, all rigid and stiff. How cliche can these zombies be?

“The zombies found us!” I breathed. I still couldn’t accept the fact that zombies existed and they’re here with us! “Let’s get the hell out of here!” It may be a balmy tropical evening, but the sight of those ghouls chilled me to the bone!

Katnissa rushed to where I dropped our bag. She started rummaging inside and throwing out more firepower in the glistening sand. Her sister grabbed a few and began shooting at the dark figures. Three of the zombies fell but somehow four arose from the sand to replace their fallen comrade.

I was getting anxious to leave. I can now hear the zombies making these disgusting gurgling sounds. I was getting sick to my stomach!

I was beginning to get light-headed again. As we arrived at the beach, a new wave of dead flower scent assaulted me. It had gone from pronounced to thick in the air! What’s with this smell? It’s making me want to vomit!

We finally started to move. I willed myself to stay focussed. I need to be strong. For myself and Fulvia. I grabbed the artillery bag and made a mental beeline to the lighthouse. “Wait, wait! These things are slow. We can still outrun them! If we ran fast enough, we can get to the lighthouse without anyone of us getting hurt!” I whispered as we jogged towards the sloping footpath. But the two Russian women ignored me.

As we hauled ass away from the beach and further into the island, I noticed Olga taking off the guns attached on her body glove (via velcro) and handing them over to her sister. The two conversed in Russian again and kissed each other on the cheek. Without saying a word, Katnissa scooted out to disappear in the darkness.

“Hey, where is she going?” I held Olga down. But she only pushed me away. These girls are much stronger than they look!

A few more yards and we were already at the lighthouse. But we couldn’t get in! It was surrounded by a gate which consisted of iron bars driven close together onto concrete floor. We didn’t have any foothold to climb up! The front gate was also padlocked. The weird thing was there were all sorts of weird voodoo trinkets and chicken bones tied to the railing.

Without missing a beat, Olga rushed to the front gate and start jimmying the lock. As I threw her some light, I can hear the dreaded groaning sounds nearby. I turned around and to my horror, the zombies were dangerously near! More ghouls had arrived from another path and converged with the main party who were hounding us. Oh I hope to God that Katniss can look after herself. I don’t even want to be alone in this island.

Mustering enough bravery, I gripped Olga’s shoulder. “Gimme your AK-47,” I shouted as Olga threw the machine gun and went back to opening the lock. I unclipped the machine gun and started firing. Firing a machine gun was a rush! There was something refreshingly primal about it. I would have been on cloud nine if it not for the zombies closing in on us.

Olga, bless her, finally opened the lock. We rushed inside before closing the gate again. The zombies were nipping at our heels. One barely grabbed Olga’s curly blonde hair, but I instinctively pushed her near me. A flurry of hands reached out from the gate as they tried to catch us. The sweet smell of dead flowers has gotten so strong, I was beginning to retch. Never had I felt strongly to control my gag reflex. I was also getting this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach.

As we ran towards the front door of the light house, a scary thought sprang to mind. What if the people in the light house were already dead and had been zombie-fied? Ignoring my fears, I focused at the job on hand. We started knocking on the door, slamming the thick oakwood slab with my knuckles as hard as we can. I didn’t notice some blood staining the wood.

From inside, we heard a loud patter of feet and the sound of a lock clickingt. The door slowly opened. A sudden explosion of bright light blinded us temporarily. I can barely see three figures huddled at the entrance.

Before my eyes can focus, a familiar New jersey-tinged voice cried out. “Bobby Rica, what the heck are you doing here?” That was when I started to unload my guts.
