The Honduran “Machero” Farmers

If you decide to travel to the Honduran countryside, though, you will find primitive farmers that use 19th century tools to grow their crops. They work under bosses or “patrons.” Honduran farmers operate the heavy machinery, but they do not have their own machinery to plant crops on their own plot of land. In fact, many Honduran farmers are so impoverished that they live off the land entirely, which is just a small piece of land allotted to them.
